Description	Aniracetam, also known as aniracetam, belongs to the same class of brain cell metabolic drugs as piracetam and naproxitan. This class of drugs can enhance the activity of phospholipase in neuronal synapses, increase the formation and transport of ATP in the brain, increase protein and RNA synthesis, promote the utilization of amino acids, phospholipids, glucose, and oxygen in the brain, and increase the responsiveness, excitability, and memory of patients. Aniracetam has a stronger effect than piracetam and has milder adverse effects.

Aniracetam, also known as N-anisoyl-2-pyrrolidinone, is a racetam which is sold in Europe as a prescription drug. It is not approved by the Food and Drug Administration for use in the United States as a prescription medication or dietary supplement.

Applications

Clinically used to treat vascular dementia and Alzheimer's disease with mild to moderate learning, memory, and cognitive impairments. It is also used for patients with memory impairment after stroke, benign memory impairment in middle-aged and elderly people, and delayed brain development in children.

Mechanism of action

Aniracetam is a cyclic derivative of gamma aminobutyric acid and a brain function improving drug. It can selectively act on the central nervous system through the blood-brain barrier. It has an activating effect on brain cell metabolism and a protective effect on nerve cells. This product can also promote intelligence by affecting the glutamate receptor system. It can also enhance the anti hypoxia ability of the cortex and prevent learning and memory loss caused by various chemicals, hypercapnia, scopolamine, or electroconvulsive therapy. This product has no sedative or excitatory effect, nor does it have vasodilatory effect. Animal experiments have shown that this product has a good promoting effect on the memory reproduction process of discrimination learning in normal rats, can counteract memory loss caused by hypoxia, and effectively improve memory disorders caused by certain reasons.
