Overview: Rivaroxaban is a new type of oral anticoagulant drug used in adult patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (excluding atrial fibrillation caused by rheumatic valvular heart disease and atrial fibrillation that occurs after heart valve replacement surgery) to reduce the risk of stroke and systemic embolism. The drug effect of rivaroxaban is highly selective and competitive in inhibiting free and bound factor Xa and prothrombin activity, prolongs the activated partial thromboplastin time (PT) and prothrombin time (aPTT) in a dose-dependent manner. The essential difference between rivaroxaban and sulfoheparin sodium/heparin lies in that rivaroxaban does not require the participation of antithrombin III. It can directly antagonize free and bound factor Xa to reduce the activation of thrombin and thus prolong the clotting time. It not only has a blocking effect on the formation of blood clots but also can destroy the blood clots that have already formed in the Chemicalbook. During hip or knee replacement surgeries, poor backflow of venous blood in the legs to the heart can easily lead to the formation of blood clots. Rivaroxaban helps prevent the formation and further development of such blood clots. The application of new anticoagulants was first used for thrombosis prevention after orthopedic surgeries, including total hip and knee replacement surgeries. Moreover, studies have reported that their efficacy and safety are not inferior to those of low-molecular-weight heparin.
