This indole-3-ethanol derivative bearing a 7-ethyl substituent on the indole nucleus is the direct KSM for the multi-step synthesis of Etodolac API — a propionic acid-class NSAID indicated for pain management, osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis. The primary alcohol at C3 of the indole ring provides the reactive handle for ring-closure reactions (Pictet-Spengler cyclisation and related methodologies) and carbon-framework elongation sequences that construct the characteristic tetrahydroindolo-acetic acid scaffold of Etodolac.
