Product Overview

Silica gel (CAS 112926-00-8) is an amorphous form of silicon dioxide with the molecular formula SiO₂ and a molecular weight of 60.08 g/mol. It is a white powder that is insoluble in water. Silica gel is widely used as a stationary phase in column chromatography, as a desiccant, and as an adsorbent in various purification processes. It is available in different pore sizes (such as 60Å) and particle sizes (such as 200-300 mesh and 100-200 mesh).

Synthetic Process

Silica gel is typically produced by the acidification of sodium silicate solutions, followed by aging, washing, and drying to achieve the desired pore structure and particle size.
