      Product Detail

English Name: Polyethylene glycol allyl methyl ether; Poly(oxy-1,2-ethanediyl), α-methyl-ω-(2-propenyloxy)-

    Molecular Formula: C₆H₁₂O₂ (basic unit)

Molecular Weight: Approx. 116.16 (basic unit). The actual molecular weight of commercial products varies depending on the degree of polymerization (n), with common molecular weights such as 500 available.

Appearance/Form: Depends on molecular weight; typically a transparent viscous liquid or low-melting-point solid.

Flash Point: Commonly reported as 20.5°C or 136°C. This variation may be attributed to differences in molecular weight and testing conditions. Its flammability should be noted.

    Main Applications

    1. Silicone Modification
This is one of its core applications. The terminal allyl group contains no active hydrogen, which helps avoid side reactions during hydrosilylation with hydrogen-containing silicone oils. Therefore, it is widely used as a key raw material in the synthesis of polyether-modified silicone oils. These modified silicones are extensively applied in polyurethane foam stabilizers, coating leveling agents, fabric softeners, and other fields.

    2. Super-Spreading Adjuvant
Studies have shown that formulations based on this compound can achieve an equilibrium surface tension of 20–22 mN/m at 0.1% aqueous solution, comparable to silicone-based super-spreaders such as Sylgard 309. It can serve as a non-silicone adjuvant in agrochemical or coating formulations.

    3. Pharmaceutical/Industrial Intermediate
It is also used as an intermediate in the synthesis of materials or pharmaceutical compounds.
