    Physical & Chemical Properties

Appearance & Form:   Pale yellowish to light green or bluish-white crystalline powder; odorless.

Solubility:   Slightly soluble in water; soluble in mineral acids and concentrated solutions of alkali metal hydroxides (forming molybdates).

Assay (Molybdenum Trioxide, MoO3):   Not less than 99.5% min.

    Melting Point:   Approximately 795°C.

Boiling Point:   Sublimes at approximately 1,155°C.

    Quality & Safety Standards

Molybdenum Content (Mo):   Typically  ≥ 66.0% min.

Impurities (Fe, Si, Cu, Pb):   Strictly controlled to max 0.01% to 0.05% each.

Safety & Handling:   Toxic if swallowed or inhaled. Causes serious eye irritation and skin irritation; suspected of causing genetic defects and cancer by inhalation. Requires personal protective equipment (PPE) such as chemical-resistant gloves, protective safety goggles, and approved dust/vapor respirators during handling.

    Recommended Applications

Catalysts:   Widely used as a catalyst and precursor in the petroleum industry for hydrodesulfurization and various oxidation reactions.

Metallurgy:   Employed as an additive in the production of specialty steels, alloy steels, and superalloys to increase strength and corrosion resistance.

Chemical Synthesis:  Utilized as a raw material for manufacturing molybdenum compounds, molybdates, pigments, and ceramic glazes.
