    Antimony Oxides

    Physical & Chemical Properties

    Appearance & Form: White crystalline powder; odorless.

    Solubility: Insoluble in water and organic solvents; soluble in concentrated solutions of caustic alkalies and mineral acids.

    Assay (Antimony Trioxide, Sb2O3): Not less than 99.5% min.

    Melting Point: Approximately 656oC.

    Boiling Point: Approximately 1,425oC to 1,550oC

    Density: Approximately 5.20 g/cm3

    Recommended Applications

    Flame Retardants: Widely used as a primary flame retardant synergist in combination with halogenated compounds for plastics, rubber, textiles, coatings, and adhesives.

    Catalysts: Employed as a key polycondensation catalyst in the manufacture of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resins and polyester fibers.

    Glass & Ceramics: Used as a clarifying and fining agent in the production of optical glass, television screens, and ceramic enamels to remove bubbles and discoloration.

    Pigments & Coatings: Utilized as a white pigment or opacifier in paints, coatings, and porcelain enamels.
