Potassium sorbate is an odorless, tasteless synthetic salt (C₆H₇KO₂) widely used as an antimicrobial preservative. It extends the shelf life of foods, wines, and personal care items by stopping the growth of mold, yeast, and fungi.

Common Uses

Food and Drink: Added to cheese, baked goods, dried fruits, syrups, and beverages to prevent spoilage.

Winemaking: Used as a stabilizer during backsweetening to stop surviving yeast from multiplying and causing refermentation.

Cosmetics:Found in lotions, shampoos, and makeup to stop microbial growth.
