General Description

Fluralaner is a racemic isoxazoline‑class veterinary active pharmaceutical ingredient (API), well‑known as the key active component of commercial brand Bravecto®. It is a broad‑spectrum systemic insecticide and acaricide for companion animals and livestock, applied for control and prevention of fleas, ticks and mites infestation. It can be administrated via oral or topical route, featuring fast‑killing effect and extremely long residual protection after single dosage.

Mode of Action

Fluralaner acts as a non‑competitive antagonist targeting arthropod ligand‑gated chloride channels. It potently blocks both GABA‑gated chloride channels and glutamate‑gated chloride channels of parasites. Blockage disturbs nerve signal transmission, triggers uncontrolled neuronal hyperexcitation, and finally leads to paralysis and death of fleas, ticks and mites. It shows high selectivity to arthropod receptors with relatively low toxicity toward mammals.
