2-Aminophenol (o-Aminophenol) is an important dye and pharmaceutical intermediate. In dyes, it synthesizes azo dyes, sulfur dyes, and acid dyes (e.g., Direct Fast Blue B2RL) for dyeing cotton, wool, and silk. In pharmaceuticals, it synthesizes local anesthetics (procaine), antituberculosis agents, antipyretic analgesics, and intermediates for vitamins and antibiotics. In rubber, it is a raw material for antioxidants to inhibit thermal-oxidative aging. It is also used as a photographic developer, metal ion (Cu, Fe) chelator, hair dye developer, and acid-base indicator.

    Safety Information
Hazard Class: Class 6.1 Toxic Substances.
Hazard Characteristics: Flammable when exposed to open fire and high heat. It decomposes under high heat to release toxic gases. It can react with strong oxidants.
Health Hazards: Harmful if inhaled, ingested or absorbed through the skin. It has an irritating effect on the eyes, skin, mucous membranes and respiratory tract. Long - term exposure may cause methemoglobinemia, resulting in tissue hypoxia.
When using and storing p - aminophenol, safety operating procedures should be strictly followed and necessary protective measures should be taken, such as wearing protective glasses, gloves and masks, to avoid contact with skin and eyes and prevent inhalation of dust. At the same time, it should be stored in a cool and ventilated warehouse, away from fire and heat sources, and separated from oxidants, acids, etc. to avoid mixed storage.
