Hydroxypropyl chitosan (CAS 104673-29-2), also known as HPCH or N-(2-Hydroxypropyl)chitosan, is a water-soluble derivative obtained through the chemical modification of natural chitosan . The compound has a molecular formula of (C₆H₁₁NO₄)ₓ, where x represents the degree of polymerization, and its molecular weight varies depending on the polymer chain length . Unlike native chitosan, which only dissolves in acidic environments, HPCH is readily soluble in water and remains stable in neutral pH conditions, significantly expanding its range of applications
