Product Description

Trisodium phosphate dodecahydrate is the twelve-water crystalline form of tribasic sodium orthophosphate, CAS 10101-89-0, molecular weight 380.12. It is produced by neutralizing phosphoric acid with sodium hydroxide at a controlled Na/P ratio, then crystallizing and drying to give free-flowing crystals, granules or powder. The standard industrial grade carries an assay of 98% min, and higher-purity food-grade and reagent-grade material is offered for applications where low chloride, low sulfate and low heavy metal content are required.

The functional value of the product comes from two properties working together. First, the trisodium salt of a weak polybasic acid hydrolyzes in water to give a strongly alkaline solution, which breaks down fatty soils by saponification and lifts particulate dirt from surfaces.
