Product Overview
Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) is a water-soluble vitamin and antioxidant supplied at ≥99.7% purity. It is widely used as a food additive, dietary supplement, and in pharmaceutical and cosmetic formulations.

Synthetic Process
Ascorbic acid is produced industrially by the Reichstein process, which involves the conversion of glucose to sorbitol, followed by fermentation to 2-keto-L-gulonic acid and subsequent lactonization.

Mechanism of Action
As a strong reducing agent, ascorbic acid scavenges free radicals and protects cells from oxidative damage. It also acts as a cofactor in enzymatic reactions and enhances iron absorption.
