(-)-Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) is the most abundant catechin in green tea and a well-studied naturally occurring flavanol gallate. It is supplied as a high-purity reference standard (HPLC≥98%) for phytochemical, antioxidant and analytical research.

Synthetic Process
The compound is obtained from natural plant sources through solvent extraction followed by multi-step chromatographic purification, including silica gel chromatography and preparative HPLC, to achieve ≥98% purity.

Mechanism of Action
As a flavanol gallate, EGCG acts as a strong antioxidant, scavenging free radicals and chelating metal ions. It is widely used as a research tool for studying flavonoid antioxidant mechanisms, enzyme interactions and cellular signaling pathways.
