1. Appearance and Color: The pure product is a dark purple to purple-black crystalline powder.
2. Solubility: Readily soluble in water, forming a purple-red aqueous solution (similar in color to potassium permanganate solution); slightly soluble in strong alkaline solutions; insoluble in organic solvents such as diethyl ether and chloroform.
3. Stability:
- The solid is relatively stable in a dry and low-temperature environment.
- It decomposes easily in water or when heated, releasing oxygen and forming a ferric hydroxide precipitate. The higher the acidity of the aqueous solution, the faster it decomposes (it remains relatively stable in a strongly alkaline environment with pH
