Stearic acid (octadecanoic acid) is a long-chain saturated fatty acid with the molecular formula C₁₈H₃₆O₂ and molecular weight of 284.48 g/mol. This white to slightly yellow waxy solid is one of the most common saturated fatty acids, widely used in rubber, plastic, cosmetic, and food applications . The compound is a major component of many animal and vegetable fats and oils.

Synthetic Process
