Carnitine tartrate Use and Manufacturing

Methods of Manufacturing

Add 10g (0.057mol) L-ascorbic acid and 250mL acetone to a 500mL flask, then add 5.2% stannous chloride (SnCL2·2H2O) catalyst with L-ascorbic acid (AA) amount, 2 zeolites, 1 Soxhlet on the flask The extractor contains 20g of anhydrous sodium sulfate (wrapped with dry filter paper) and refluxed at 80°C for 1.5h. Observe that the AA reaction is completed and stops. After filtration, the filtrate is distilled at normal pressure to recover acetone. After most of the acetone is distilled off, a small amount of n-hexane is added, cooled and suction filtered, and the product is washed with a small amount of 4:7 (volume ratio) acetone n-hexane, and dried to obtain white product IAA 11.6g The yield is 94.3% and the melting point is 217-219°C. Using water as a solvent, add 2.2mol/L pyridine and 10mol/L potassium hydroxide (PH=12-12.5), add a small excess of phosphorus oxychloride at 0-10℃ to react in IAA, and exchange it by cation After refining, the resin is neutralized with magnesium oxide to obtain the product, with a yield of over 70%.

Uses

L-Carnitine L-tartrate is used in pharma and food application as dietary supplement. It founds as well an application in cosmetics.
