Methods of Manufacturing

The preparation method is to add 4, 6-dihydroxy-2-thiomethyl pyrimidine and phosphorus oxychloride to the reaction flask, react for several hours under the protection of nitrogen, and evaporate the excess phosphorus oxychloride under reduced pressure, and wash the crude product with water The brown solid is 4, 6-dichloro-2-thiomethylpyrimidine. Uses

4,6-Dimethoxy-2-(methylsulfonyl)pyrimidine may be used in the microwave assisted preparation of 4,6-dimethoxy-N-methylpyrimidin-2-amine by reacting with methylamine. It may also be used to prepare 2′-pyrimidinecarbonylsulfonanilide derivatives with potent herbicidal activity.
