Description
Arsenic (As) is the third element in Group VA of the periodic table. Elemental arsenic can be found in two solid forms: yellow and gray or metallic, with specific gravities of 1.97 and 5.73, respectively (CRC, 1999). Gray arsenic is the ordinary stable form. Arsenic compounds can be categorized as inorganic and organic. Inorganic compounds do not contain an arsenic–carbon bond while organic compounds do.
Elemental arsenic, as, occurs to a limited
extent in nature as a steel-gray,

Arsenic Use and Manufacturing
The gas-phase reduction method assembles three electric furnaces equipped with a gasification section, a reaction section, and a precipitation section. The central reaction part is a quartz tube with an inner diameter of 20 to 25 mm, filled with charcoal that is heated to remove the gas by vacuum, and plugged with quartz wool at both ends. Put arsenic trioxide in the quartz tray and put it in the gasification section to 400 The speed of ~500 mI/min passes through the purified nitrogen. Maintain the gasification section at 400°C, the reaction section at 650°C, and the precipitation section at 350-400°C. After the reaction for about 1 hour, the elemental arsenic is precipitated and then distilled to obtain the finished arsenic product.
In metallurgy for hardening copper, lead, nonferrous alloys; automotive body solder. In semiconductor materials. In the manufacture of low-melting glass. As wood preservative, herbicide, pesticide.
