Tantalum pentafluoride Use and Manufacturing
The direct method uses tantalum powder and fluorine as raw materials to prepare tantalum pentafluoride: using a Monel alloy or nickel L-shaped tube as a reaction tube, first evacuate from one end of the tube to remove the air and moisture in the tube, and then at the end Add metal tantalum powder, put this end into the electric furnace, put the other end into the semi-melted dry ice, control the electric furnace to raise the temperature to 300 ℃, then introduce fluorine gas into the reaction tube, after the reaction Solid tantalum pentafluoride powder was formed at dry ice. The reaction product was vacuum distilled, and 99% tantalum pentafluoride was collected at -10°C. Under the condition of high vacuum, it is sublimated at a temperature of 90 ~ 100 ℃, that is, refined tantalum pentafluoride. The product must be stored in a dry borosilicate glass container and sealed. The synthesis method uses tantalum pentachloride and anhydrous hydrofluoric acid as raw materials to prepare tantalum pentafluoride: at room temperature, tantalum pentachloride reacts with anhydrous hydrofluoric acid. After the reaction, solid pentafluoride is obtained by condensation and filtration separation. Tantalum is then sublimated under vacuum to produce refined tantalum pentafluoride.
It is used in the production of high-performance capacitors and other electronic devices. It’s also utilized in certain specialized chemical reactions.
