2-Nitrophenol Use and Manufacturing

Methods of Manufacturing

It is obtained by hydrolyzing o-nitrochlorobenzene with sodium hydroxide solution and then acidifying it. Add 1850-1950L of sodium hydroxide solution with a concentration of 76-80g/L to the hydrolysis pot, and then add 250kg of molten o-nitrochlorobenzene. When heated to 140-150 ℃, the pressure is about 0.45MPa, hold for 2.5h, and then heat up to 153-155 ℃, the pressure to about 0.53MPa, continue to keep warm for 3h. After the reaction was completed, it was cooled to 60°C. Add 1000L of water and 60L of concentrated sulfuric acid to the crystallization pot in advance, then press in the above hydrolysate, and slowly add sulfuric acid until the Congo red test paper is purple, then add ice to cool to 30°C, stir, filter with suction, and shake with a centrifuge After removing the mother liquor, 210 kg of o-nitrophenol with a content of about 90% is obtained. The yield is about 90%. Another preparation method is to nitrate phenol into a mixture of o-nitrophenol and p-nitrophenol, and then distill the o-nitrophenol with steam. The nitrification reaction is carried out at 15-23 ℃, the highest shall not exceed 25 ℃.

Uses

manufacture of dyes, paint colorings, rubber chemicals, and fungicides.Indicator in 2% alcohol solution.pH:5.0 colorless, 7.0 yellow, but the color change is not sharp and cannot be used where CO2 is present; as reagent for glucose.
