Description

An ester gum

Pale yellow to pale brown friable transparent glassy mass. Odorless, or slightly special odor. Taste very bitter insoluble in water, soluble in toluene, benzene, petroleum, turpentine, linseed oil, slightly soluble in ethanol. Relative density is about 1.08. It is easy to oxidize in the air, and the powder is self-combustible and can spontaneously combust and explode. Softening point 80~90℃.

Glycerol Ester of Rosin Use and Manufacturing

Methods of Manufacturing

It is made by esterification of light wood rosin and food grade glycerin. Those used as gum gum bases are refined by steam stripping; those used as beverage stabilizers (adjusting the density of citrus essential oils) are refined by reverse steam distillation. Due to the bitterness of rosin glyceride, the rosin was modified to produce hydrogenated rosin, polymer rosin, and part of dimer rosin. The glycerides prepared therefrom are: hydrogenated rosin glyceride (hydrogenated ester gum), part of dimerized rosin glyceride, poly rosin glyceride, tall oil rosin glyceride, these products have improved rosin to a certain extent The bitter taste of glycerides enhances its use value in food.

Uses

As W/O type food emulsifier. It can be used as emulsified flavor, the maximum usage is 100g/kg, which is equivalent to 0.1g.kg in carbonated beverages; the maximum usage in chewing gum base is 1.0g/kg.

Additive in citrus-flavored beverages.
