Description
Dextran (Dextran 40) has an inhibitory effect on thrombocyte aggregation and coagulation factors and is used as a plasma volume expander.
A group of glucose polymers made by certain bacteria. Dextrans are used therapeutically as plasma volume expanders and anticoagulants. They are also commonly used in biological experimentation and in industry for a wide variety of purposes.

Agents that prevent BLOOD CLOTTING. (See all compounds classified as Anticoagulants.)|Any liquid used to replace blood plasma, usually a saline solution, often with serum albumins, dextrans or other preparations. These substances do not enhance the oxygen- carrying capacity of blood, but merely replace the volume. They are also used to treat dehydration. (See all compounds classified as Plasma Substitutes.)

Dextran Use and Manufacturing
Substance is used in soft center confections, as a partial substitute for barley malt. Anti-anemia drugs. Used for iron deficiency anemia. Adverse reactions and contraindications If the hemoglobin does not gradually increase after injection of this product, the drug should be stopped immediately. Avoid use in patients with liver and kidney dysfunction. Blood volume supplement medicine. Adverse reactions and contraindications occasionally allergic reactions. It is forbidden for patients with congestive heart failure and hemorrhagic disease, and it is used with caution for patients with insufficiency of heart, liver and kidney.
Dextran: ACTIVE|XU - indicates a substance exempt from reporting under the Chemical Data Reporting Rule, (40 CFR 711).
