Methylthiourea Use and Manufacturing
Under stirring, the methyl isothiocyanate was added dropwise to the concentrated ammonia water, after the addition, the excess ammonia was removed by heating. After the reaction mixture was decolorized by activated carbon, methyl thiourea crystals were precipitated by cooling. The yield is 74%-81%.
Used in organic synthesis.
