5L, 3-neck flask was charged with 500.Og (3.356 moles) of 2, 6-dichloropyridazine, followed by 1000 mL of methanol. The resulting pale yellow solution was treated with 2300 mL of a 25percent (by weight) solution OfNaOCH3, 6-Dimethoxypyridazine3, 6-Dichloropyridazine (10.0 g, 67.12 mmol) and sodium methoxide (9.79 g, 181.23 mmol) in methanol (39 mL) were heated at 70° C. overnight. The reaction was cooled to room temperature and diluted with methylene chloride (200 mL), washed with water (100 mL'2), dried through MgSO
