The estrodione is brominated by hydrobromide to obtain the dibromo compound, which is refluxed in 2, 4, 6-trimethylpyridine solution to obtain the crude product, which is then purified by recrystallization from methanol or acetone.

Uses

A metabolite of 17-Estradiol Biochemical research, female hormone drugs. It is an intermediate for the synthesis of ethinyl estradiol; it is mainly used for uterine hypoplasia, menstrual disorders and menopausal disorders. It is an intermediate for the synthesis of ethinyl estradiol drugs. Can cause nausea, vomiting, dizziness, etc. Long-term use can cause excessive endometrial hyperplasia and bleeding. This product is an intermediate of the hormone ethinyl estradiol used in the No. 1 contraceptive.
