2,4-Dimethylthiazole Use and Manufacturing

Methods of Manufacturing

It is obtained by the reaction of acetamide and phosphorus pentasulfide, and then condensation with chlorinated acetone. Add anhydrous benzene to the reaction flask, then add the mixture of acetamide and powdered phosphorus pentasulfide, and heat on a water bath. Add the benzene solution of chloroacetone and reflux for 30 minutes after the addition. Then add water to the reaction mixture to separate layers, discard the upper reddish liquid, take the lower layer liquid and add sodium hydroxide to make it alkaline, and then add ether for extraction. The extract was dried with anhydrous sodium sulfate. Filter, distill under normal pressure, collect the fraction at 140-150°C, and then distill the collection again, and collect the fraction at 143-145°C to be 2, 4-dimethylthiazole.
