(±)-Acenocoumarol Use and Manufacturing
S-Enantiomer ofAcenocoumarol. Vitamin K antagonist; structurally similar to Warfarin. Anticoagulant
Drug Function and Efficacy
This product is a synthetic substitute of dicoumarol. Its chemical structure is similar to that of vitamin K. It competitively antagonizes vitamin K, hindering the latter's utilization and inhibiting the synthesis of prothrombin and coagulation factors II, VII, IX, and X in the liver. It is the most potent oral anticoagulant among dicoumarols. Its effect is faster than that of dicoumarol, but its duration is shorter. It has no effect on synthesized prothrombin and coagulation factors.
