It is obtained by fermentation of Bacillus polymyxa var. colistinus. (1) Process of Japan's Asahi Kasei Co., Ltd. The myxobacteria culture solution is dried and made into sulfate. (2) Process of Meiji Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., Japan. The pH of the fermentation broth is adjusted, the solid is removed by filtration, the colistin in the liquid is adsorbed by ion exchange resin, the hydrochloride is made after elution, and then concentrated and dried.
The antibacterial spectrum and antibacterial mechanism of this product are the same as polymyxin E, but stronger than the latter. Mainly used for sepsis, acute enteritis, urinary tract infections, dysentery, pertussis, respiratory system infections, biliary tract infections, mixed infections of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and ENT infections.
