tert-Butyldimethylsilyl chloride Use and Manufacturing

Methods of Manufacturing

The pentane solution of dichlorodimethylsilane was cooled to 0°C, and a pentane solution of tert-butyllithium was added dropwise with stirring under nitrogen. Maintain 0°C, stir the reaction for 1.5h, then warm to 25°C, and continue the reaction for 48h. Distillate, collect the fraction at 125°C (97.5kPa), and leave to solidify to obtain tert-butyldimethylchlorosilane. The yield is 70%.

Uses

Used in pharmaceutical intermediates and organic synthesis, it is a sterically hindered silicone protective agent, widely used in the synthesis of technical materials. In the synthesis of ribonucleosides, it is used as a protective group for the hydroxyl group. It is also an oxidizing agent and decyanation agent. Silanizing agent. In organic synthesis, it is used as hydroxyl protecting agent and derivatization reagent for analysis and preparation. Protect tertiary alcohols. Reacts with alcohols to form silicon ether. Determine the conformation of cholesterol derivatives. Synthetic prostaglandins, certain antibiotics, lipid-lowering drugs, Lovastatin (Lovastatin) and Simvastatin (Simvastatin) auxiliary materials.
