Description
Dispersant NNO, also known as Sodium Naphthalene Sulfonate Formaldehyde Condensate, is an anionic surfactant that appears as a yellow-brown to brown powder with high solubility in water and strong resistance to acids, alkalis, hard water, and inorganic salts. It is characterized by excellent dispersing power, typically ≥95%, and exhibits a pH range of 7.0 to 9.0 in a 1% aqueous solution. The compound is non-foaming, non-permeable, and demonstrates good stability under various environmental conditions. Dispersant NNO is known for its strong affinity to protein fibers and polyamide, while showing little or no affinity to cotton and other cellulose-based fibers.

Dispersant NNO Use and Manufacturing
The preparation process includes three steps: methyl naphthalene sulfonation, condensation of sulfonated product with formaldehyde, and neutralization. Put 500 kg of methyl naphthalene into the sulfonation kettle, heat to melt, start stirring, and raise the temperature to 130-140°C for reaction 2. Then add 210L of water under rapid stirring, and after stirring for another half an hour, take samples to measure the acidity. If the total acidity is 25%-27%, it is qualified. Cool to 90-100°C. Add 300kg of 37% formaldehyde solution at once. The temperature is increased naturally, and the reaction temperature is controlled at 130-140°C and the pressure is 0.15-0.20MPa. React for 2h to allow it to fully condense. After the condensation is completed, 30% lye is added for neutralization until the pH is about 7. Finally, the crystal is cooled, filtered, and dried to obtain the finished product.
This product is a diluent, used for the control of decay in the paper industry, reducing both sides, improving the retention of fillers or fine fibers, improving sizing, and reducing the viscosity of the coating. Used as an efficient dispersant for water-based paints and pigment pastes. It is used as dispersant for color paste in latex paints of acrylic series, aldehyde-propylene series and chlorine partial series.
