TOP15 the world's best-selling drug in 2026

ECHEMI 2020-05-06

Since 2012, AbbVie ’s flagship product, Humira, has been firmly on the throne of the global “King of Medicine”.

EvaluatePharma, a pharmaceutical market research agency, recently released a new long-term forecast report that Merck's oncology drug Keytruda will replaceHumira on the throne of "Pharmaceutical King" in 2024, and will reach annual sales of 24.3 billion US dollars in 2026. According to the seller's consensus prediction, Keytruda's horrific figure will be more than double that of other drugs in the same period.

As for Humira, the drug will still occupy a place in the TOP 15 best-selling drug list in 2026. But it is worth noting that the drug is the only product in the TOP15 list that is predicted to have sales decline in the next 6 years, and its sales will decline from 19.72 billion U.S. dollars in 2019 to 7.8 billion U.S. dollars in 2026.

5.6-1

Of course, these numbers are only predictions, especially the COVID-19 pandemic makes short-term sales forecasts more difficult. But it is clear that seller analysts expect that the products on the TOP15 list will experience substantial growth in the next few years.

According to the report, in the TOP15 list, in addition to Vertex's cystic fibrosis drug Trikafta (420 million US dollars), the sales of other 14 drugs in 2019 all exceeded 1 billion US dollars, of which 9 will exceed 4 billion US dollars. In 2026, the sales of all drugs will be more than 7 billion US dollars.

Of course, in addition to the 15 drugs on the list, a number of recently launched drugs are expected to achieve substantial growth in 2026. Some of these new medicines have not been fully commercialized, and are likely to fight the global blockade more.

It is worth noting that the above list includes some relatively small pharmaceutical companies. In terms of introducing new drugs to the market, such companies usually face greater risks and require close attention, such as Global Blood Therapeutics and Alnylam.

Although currently experiencing the global pandemic of COVID-19, seller analysts generally believe that the long-term potential of these products will remain unchanged.
