Revision of international standard for ESBR styrene content determination
Recently, the international standard ISO 2453: 2020 "Determination of the content of bound styrene in emulsion polystyrene butadiene rubber" by the China Petroleum and Chemical Research Institute was revised and approved for implementation. This standard is the third international standard led by the Institute in the field of synthetic rubber, and it will promote China's international standardization work in the field of synthetic rubber.
The standard is mainly used to determine the content of bound styrene in emulsion polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber (ESBR). The combined styrene content has an important influence on the physical and mechanical properties and processing properties of styrene-butadiene rubber such as elasticity and plasticity. Has important significance.
This revision modifies the sample extraction method. The revised extraction method is simplified, and the extracted sample can be used to determine the content of bound styrene in styrene-butadiene rubber in one extraction, and the extract can be used to determine the content of soap and organic acids in styrene-butadiene rubber. This will not only reduce the intensity of inspection work, but also save reagents and reduce waste reagent emissions.
At the same time, the precision content of the measurement method has been supplemented and improved. The original standard only included the precision content of high-temperature polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber and low benzene content (20% -30%) styrene-butadiene rubber. With the continuous progress of product technology, the production of latex polystyrene-butadiene rubber in the world has been converted to low-temperature polymerization technology, and styrene-butadiene rubber with high benzene content (40%) has also been widely used. For this reason, this revision adds the precision content of low-temperature polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber and styrene-butadiene rubber with high content of styrene, which provides a basis for inspectors to judge the test results.
