What Is Ethylene Vinyl Acetate
Ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) is a general-purpose polymer with the molecular formula (C2H4)x.(C4H6O2)y, which is flammable and has no irritating odor. Water resistance: closed cell structure, non-absorbent, moisture-proof, good water resistance; Corrosion resistance, acid resistance, alkali resistance, alkali resistance, grease and other corrosion resistance, antibacterial, non-toxic, taste and pollution-free; Processability: no joints, it is easier to process such as hot pressing, cutting, gluing, laminating, etc.

It can be used as a solvent to dissolve other compounds or break down an existing compound into simpler forms. For instance, it can be used to make vinyl acetate monomer, which is a compound that is used extensively in the manufacture of acrylic fibers and certain types of plastic. Acetone is also produced as a by-product in this process.

Shandong is the main production area of white latex, such as Jinan, Linyi, Dezhou, Yantai and Qingdao are the major demand areas for vinyl ACETATE. The annual consumption for vinyl acetate in Shandong was 65kt, excluding consumption of ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA) units in Levima Group, which took up around 9.77% of the total circulation volume (including the consumption of EVA units in Levima Group here). The vinyl acetate is used to produce polyvinyl acetate and other products.
Product Prices Are Soaring, Rising Again And Again
In the context of the rapid growth of the photovoltaic industry, the market demand for EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer) resin, especially high-end photovoltaic materials, is strong. In addition, the port congestion caused by the epidemic has hindered the import of EVA. Since the beginning of this year, the supply and demand pattern of the EVA market has been tight. Product prices are soaring, rising again and again.
The construction of the project includes a million-ton-level ethylene plant, as well as a 10/700,000-ton/year ethylene oxide/ethylene glycol device, a 600,000-ton/year styrene device, a 350,000-ton/year polypropylene device, and a 300,000-ton/year 9 sets of chemical plants and supporting utilities including an ethylene-vinyl acetate resin plant, a 100,000-ton/year thermoplastic elastomer plant, etc., with a total investment of 27.8 billion yuan, and an estimated annual output value of 26 billion yuan, which can stimulate the local downstream industry of over 100 billion yuan.
On February 18, 2021, chemical producer Celanese Corp (Celanese Corp) stated that due to severe weather in Texas, it announced force majeure for deliveries in the Americas and Europe, the Middle East and Asia (EMEA). These include acetic acid, vinyl acetate monomer, ethyl acetate and ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer.
