Dow launches new hybrid adhesives for screen printing inks

ECHEMI 2020-06-15

June 11th – Dow launched a new generation of hybrid adhesives for the preparation of water-based screen printing inks, which have excellent durability, color brightness and opacity on fabrics made of synthetic fibers and natural fibers, thus satisfying the constant Growing demand for streetwear and sportswear markets.

“Due to the blurring of the line between apparel outdoor and fashion, DOWSIL™Print 041 Adhesive can help ink formulators and screen printing shops to meet the key customers’ need for soft touch and bright colors that do not crack, fade or fade. Key requirements, while controlling processing costs and achieving better durability." said Padmadas Nair, senior technical service and development leader of Dow Textiles, "as the fashion industry adopts production methods and materials with less environmental impact to meet increasingly stringent requirements. Regulatory requirements and sustainability commitment, Dow’s innovative printing ink technology can help leading brands combine stylish looks, easy-to-care, durability, profitability and sustainability.”

Based on an innovative acrylic polyurethane hybrid material, DOWSIL™Print 041 textile printing ink adhesive can provide a water-based alternative formulation of traditional textile printing inks. It has high performance, cost efficiency and excellent sustainability.

The ink formulated with DOWSIL™Print 041 adhesive combines the ease of use of existing screen printing equipment, with excellent adhesion and high image opacity in both synthetic fibers and cotton fabrics. Compared with traditional PVC ink substitutes, printed textiles show excellent elongation resistance, as well as higher washing, rubbing and ironing resistance.

In the past few years, based on health and environmental considerations, brand owners and regulators in Europe, North America and around the world have been gradually restricting the use of textile inks containing PVC and phthalates.

Frauke Baltruschat and Padmadas Nair, Dow EMEAI Textile Marketing Managers, will introduce the details of this new hybrid adhesive technology in a dedicated webinar on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at 2pm (GMT + 1), and Demonstrate its performance characteristics in screen printing ink formulations.
