Syngenta China was formally established
The reorganization of the agricultural sectors of China Sinochem and China National Chemical Corporation has finally settled. On June 19, Syngenta Group China, which was formed by Sinochem Agriculture, Syngenta, ADAMA and others, was formally established. At the same time as Syngenta Group China was established, on June 18 local time, Syngenta Group headquarters in Basel, Switzerland also announced the formal establishment of Syngenta Group, and a new agrochemical giant was born.
On January 5, 2020, Sinochem Group and China National Chemical Corporation announced the injection of their agricultural assets into the newly established Syngenta Group. After the asset reorganization, the Syngenta Group includes Syngenta Plant Protection (operating headquarters in Basel, Switzerland), Syngenta Seed (operating headquarters in Chicago, USA), ADAMA (operating headquarters in Tel Aviv, Israel), and Syngenta Group China (Operating headquarters is located in Shanghai, China) Four business units.
According to the company's information, Syngenta Group has the world's leading R&D strength of patented and non-patent pesticides, as well as advanced seed industry biotechnology and breeding technology. It is the world's largest plant protection company and the third largest seed company, with more than 100 in the world. Each country and region has 48,000 employees, with annual sales of 23 billion US dollars.
The newly established Syngenta Group China has nearly 14,000 employees and 2019 sales of US$5.6 billion. Its business scope includes four major business units: plant protection, seeds, crop nutrition and modern agricultural technology service platform (MAP) and digital agriculture. It is China's largest supplier of agricultural inputs and a leading operator of modern agricultural integrated service platforms.
Through business restructuring and synergy, Syngenta Group China can provide the industry’s widest range of products and services, including plant protection products, original drug supply, crop breeding, crop nutrition, and MAP modern agricultural technology services and smart agricultural service platforms in China. The market ranks first in the plant protection industry, first in the fertilizer industry, and second in the seed industry.
