DSM acquires special animal nutrition and healthcare business of the Erber Group
Recently, as a pet food ingredient supplier giant, Royal DSM (Royal DSM) announced the acquisition of Erber Group's special animal nutrition and health business-Biomin and Romer Laboratories for 980 million euros (1.107 billion US dollars), mainly focusing on Mycotoxin risk management, intestinal health management, and food and feed safety diagnostic solutions.
It is reported that this acquisition will expand the scope of DSM's high value-added innovative product solutions; as a complement to DSM's human nutrition and health product line, the addition of Romer Labs will bring more solutions to customers in the food industry. Erber Group’s two other business units, Sanphar and EFB, which contribute 7% of the group’s total sales, will not be included in this transaction.
The Erber Group has advanced research and production facilities and approximately 1,200 employees worldwide. Therefore, this acquisition will constitute a unique strategic opportunity for both parties to achieve synergies in revenue growth through product line integration, global customer base sharing, and complementary geographic advantages. The Austria-based Erber Group provides DSM with the opportunity to enter the mycotoxin risk management market as a world leader, making DSM one of the top suppliers in the rapidly growing animal intestinal health management market.
When animal feed is contaminated with natural mold, it will produce mycotoxins, threatening the health of animals and humans. In addition to increasing the risk of illness, mycotoxins also reduce the nutritional value of feed. Biomin's patents and proprietary technologies can provide advanced scientific mycotoxin solutions to protect animal health. As a substitute for antibiotics-a major producer of plant sources and probiotic feeds, Biomin's addition will strengthen DSM's position in the rapidly growing global biotin market and help improve animal gut health.
Walking at the forefront of diagnostic technology, Romer Labs is committed to providing customers with innovative testing solutions for the detection of mycotoxins, food allergens and pathogens, and veterinary drug residues in feed and food, and has more than one in Austria, the United Kingdom, the United States and Singapore. Certified full-service testing laboratory. After the merger, DSM's customers in the food and beverage and feed industries worldwide will benefit from Romer Labs' expertise and quality assurance products backed by both parties' data resources.
This acquisition of the Erber Group will further enhance DSM’s expertise and consolidate DSM’s position as a leading supplier of animal nutrition and health care solutions by focusing on reducing emissions, improving feed efficiency and rational use of water and land , To help farms increase productivity and achieve sustainable development.
