India's spice export data released, greatly affected by the epidemic

The Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry released data on July 19 that India’s spice exports in June increased to US$359 million (approximately 26.9 billion Indian rupees), an increase of 23% from US$292 million in the same period last year.

 The Federation’s survey also found that rising demand in the Indian spice market led to a 12% increase in prices in June, twice the increase in the overall consumer price index.

The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry quoted official data as saying that in Indian rupees, Indian spice exporters had a higher income in June due to exchange rate advantages, a year-on-year increase of 34% to 272.1 billion rupees.

 Pepper, cardamom, ginger, turmeric, coriander, cumin, parsley, fennel, fenugreek, nutmeg, spice oil and mint products are the main spices exported from India.

The export destinations of Indian spices are all over the world, and the main importing countries include the United States, Britain, Germany, France, Italy, Canada, Australia, UAE, Iran, Singapore, China and Bangladesh.

 Deepak Sood, secretary general of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, pointed out that during the COVID-19 pandemic, in addition to native Indians, people from all over the world have strengthened their understanding of the function of spice-enhancing immunity, so the demand has skyrocketed.
