After the intense heat of combustion, the flame front moves back in the direction of fuel injection. More air is forced in by increased pressure of the piston during its power stroke. This creates a cycle that allows carbon dioxide to form and then exit the cylinder. Before exiting, some gases may re-enter the cylinder to react with fuel once again. The cycle continues until one or more products become completely exhausted.
2.H2O(water vapor)
The initial high temperature combustion reaction releases water vapor due to its chemical structure, which involves breaking apart and reforming bonds. With water as a product, it can be seen that combustion also produces energy from chemical bonds in water molecules.
3.Nitrogen oxides (NOx)
Since soot is the first product to leave the flame front, burning carbon and oxygen produces nitrogen oxides. These are very common gaseous products that have proven to be carcinogenic and affect the atmosphere by affecting ozone levels which allows harmful UV radiation to reach Earth's surface.
