Do not drink it! Three caffeine products are being recalled for microbial risk

Italy's health ministry issued emergency recall documents Tuesday, saying it was recalling batches of three types of coffee because of a possible risk of microbial contamination.

 

Italy's health ministry issued emergency recall documents Tuesday, saying it was recalling batches of three types of coffee because of a possible risk of microbial contamination.

 

The three brands in question are all produced by Caffe Trombetta SpA, a company located in the Pomezia city of Pomezia, Tgcom24 reported. Italy's health ministry said it was recalling batches of the product because of possible excessive ochratoxin levels.

· Consilia Coffee

The recall information for Consilia brand coffee products distributed by SUN soc. cons.a r.l. is as follows:

-Consilia Espresso Arabica DG Consilia Espresso Arabica, Capsula DG 16x7g, production lot 01ND02B-01ND03B, shelf life up to 2/2-3, 2024;


- Cialda Consilia Espresso Arabica, 18x7g, Batch 01DD04B, Shelf life until 4 February 2024.


· Zio D 'America

The recall information of Zio D 'America brand coffee products is as follows:

-Zio D 'America's Capsule Compatibili Espresso Arabica, in 50x5.5 g and 10x5.5 g packs, with batch 02CD05B and 01CD07B, respectively. The corresponding shelf life is up to February 5, 2024 and February 7, 2024 respectively.


· Trobetta Coffee

The following is the recall information for Trombetta brand coffee products manufactured and sold by Caffe Trombetta SpA:

- L 'Espresso Capsule Trombetta Arabica, 10x5.5 g, manufactured lot 02AD078, shelf life until 7 February 2024.

Ochratoxin is a type of mycotoxin commonly found in foods such as coffee, cereal, dried fruit and alcohol. It is highly carcinogenic and excessive intake can cause kidney disease, which poses a great threat to human and animal health.

The ministry of Health is warning consumers who have bought the above batch of coffee not to drink it and to return it to the point of sale.
