Q2 global oil and gas industry M&A transactions reached US$23.95 billion

According to GlobalData's transaction database, global M&A transactions announced in the second quarter of 2020 in the oil and gas industry totaled US$23.95 billion.  

This value increased by 114.2% from the previous quarter, and decreased by 68.8% from the average of US$76.8 billion in the previous four quarters.

Comparing the value of transactions in different regions of the world, the Middle East and Africa topped the list, with a total of 11.29 billion US dollars of transactions announced during this period. At the national level, the UAE topped the list with a transaction volume of US$10.12 billion.

In terms of transaction volume, North America has become the region with the most M&A transactions in the global oil and gas industry, followed by Asia Pacific and Europe.

The country with the most M&A transactions in the second quarter of 2020 is the United States (83 cases), followed by China (33 cases) and Canada (21 cases).  

As of the end of the second quarter of 2020, global oil and gas M&A deals announced were valued at US$50.83 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 79%.
