Polysilicon soared 41%! TDI rose by nearly 2,000 CNY/ton!

ECHEMI 2020-08-25

The price of polysilicon on August 24 was 65,333.33 CNY/ton, an increase of 41.01% from 46,333.33 CNY/ton at the beginning of this month. In addition to polysilicon, the prices of many chemicals have shown an upward trend in recent days.

Recently, affected by downstream market demand and continuous rainstorms in the south, most companies' inventories have remained low, and supplies have been tight in some regions. The price of polysilicon on August 24 was 65,333.33 CNY/ton, an increase of 41.01% from 46,333.33 CNY/ton at the beginning of this month. At present, the operating rate of domestic polysilicon manufacturers is relatively low, and about six maintenance or load reduction operations have been maintained, which has also promoted the continuous upward trend of the polysilicon market.

In addition to polysilicon, the prices of a variety of chemicals have shown an upward trend in the past few days, and some have even maintained their upward trend for a long time without losing momentum.

According to the above data, it can be seen that TDI (13.51%), acetone (12.04%), polysilicon (11.36%), butadiene (11.31%) are among the top four on the increase list, and the increase is above 10%. TDI The price has risen by nearly RMB 2,000/ton in just 7 days.

TDI, which is at the top of the list, has risen staggeringly. According to the Coatings Purchasing Network, recent changes in external disk devices have been relatively frequent, involving a total production capacity of 3.41 million tons. Overall, the global operating rate has dropped significantly. Following Wanhua Chemical and BASF’s successive announcements to increase the listing price of MDI, Cangzhou Dahua and Dow’s substantial increase in TDI prices once again attracted market attention. Industry insiders said that the core logic of this round of TDI price increases is that manufacturers are raising prices due to less inventory pressure, and this trend may continue until September.

In addition, affected by the increase in crude oil prices and driven by downstream infrastructure and demand, some domestic chemical companies have also seen an increase in their external quotations.

On August 24, Liaoyang Petrochemical’s 30,000 tons/year butadiene price was raised by 500 CNY/ton to 5,350 CNY/ton.

The quotation of methacrylic acid in North China is 11,600 yuan, an increase of 200 CNY/ton from the previous.

The price increase of raw materials is basically not large, but the coverage is wide. There are dozens of raw materials in Shandong, Qinghai, Henan, Daqing, Liaoyang, Shijiazhuang and other provinces and cities. Industry insiders said that the domestic epidemic is basically under control, and the main factor leading to the recent increase in raw material prices is the sudden environment. Whether it was the shutdown of large factories for maintenance in the second half of the year, or the accidents of some large and medium-sized influential enterprises in the industry, the supply of some products in the market was reduced. At the same time, the floods during the flood season have stagnated the production and operation of enterprises in many southern provinces, cities and regions, and the shortage of supply will not be greatly alleviated in the short term. Therefore, the price of raw materials may maintain an upward trend in the second half of the year, and it is difficult to see a sharp drop.
