BP increases investment in oil and gas in the United States
Recently, BP announced that it would increase its investment in oil and gas in the United States in 2023.
BP said it would increase the US onshore oil and gas investment from US $1.7 billion in 2022 to US $2.4 billion in 2023. In the Gulf of Mexico offshore project, the company plans to achieve a total investment of US $7 billion by 2025, compared with US $10 billion in the past five years.
According to the report released by BP, the company has invested more than 135 billion US dollars in the United States since 2005, supporting nearly 250000 US jobs. In 2021, BP's oil and gas production in the United States averaged 296000 barrels per day, most of which were produced in the Gulf of Mexico. BP also pointed out that the refining capacity of its U.S. refineries was 851000 barrels per day, accounting for about 40% of the company's global refining capacity.
