DKSH Expands Distribution Partnership with Kahai in North America
DKSH’s Performance Materials business unit, a specialty chemicals and ingredients distributor, will provide business development, marketing, sales, logistics and distribution services for Kahai’s Cacay Oil, an ingredient for the natural, clean skincare and haircare industries with proven wrinkle-reducing and hydration benefits.
Kahai’s Cacay Oil, also known as “Amazon Gold,” is a lightweight, cold-pressed oil from the nut of the Kakai tree. It has been shown to be effective in reducing wrinkles, promoting cell regeneration, replenishing moisture, enhancing skin radiance, improving firmness and increasing elasticity.
A comprehensive study recently conducted by Kahai in Brazil demonstrated that Cacay Oil outperformed Argan Oil in hair care, demonstrating significant benefits in heat protection, increasing hair shine, repairing split ends and controlling frizz.
Additionally, Kahai’s Cacay Oil has been certified for use in China, demonstrating its safety and quality and opening up significant opportunities for companies looking to incorporate this ingredient into their products. With this certification, Kahai stands out as the only supplier of Cacay Oil that meets Chinese standards, providing a competitive advantage to its partners.
Kahai is committed to sustainable development and aims to achieve "zero waste" by making full use of the fruit and by-products of the Cacay tree. The company is also spearheading the reforestation of 5,000 hectares in Colombia's Orinoco and Amazon regions. These initiatives provide income to more than 200 farmers and indigenous families, highlighting the company's dedication to environmental and social responsibility.
Building on successful partnerships in European markets such as Germany, France, the United Kingdom and Spain, DKSH has been commissioned to develop Kahai's business in Canada and the United States with its extensive distribution network, knowledgeable commercial and technical teams, strong logistics capabilities and high-value services including innovation, formulation, market research and analysis.
"After a decade of working with DKSH in Europe, we are now expanding our partnership to North America. Together, we aim to make cacay oil a new trend in natural clean cosmetics, building on the social and environmental impact it creates in Colombia," said Camilo Jaramillo, co-founder of Kahai.
"We are excited to expand our partnership with Kahai to distribute its high-quality cacay oil, which has outstanding benefits for skin and hair care," said Michelle Delac, Vice President, Global Personal Care Industry, DKSH Performance Materials. "Our collaboration will bring this special ingredient to new markets, driving innovation and growth in the personal care industry in Canada and the United States."
