Natural fragrance global market: 8 varieties including citral are bullish
Multinational fragrance company De Monchy Aromatics released a September market report, summarizing the global market situation of more than 10 natural fragrances, including artemisia oil, Argentine lemon oil, Mexican lime oil, Bulgarian lavender oil, Cubeba oil, citral, etc.
Buchu leaf oil: very small production, extremely tight supply
At present, there are very few production activities of Bukuye Oil, and the market supply is extremely short. It is expected that this situation will not change significantly before the new harvest season in early 2021.
Roman chamomile oil: crop yield slightly below average
The harvest season in the UK is over, and despite the drought in May-July, the yield is only slightly below average.
Artemisia annua oil: Crop harvest plummeted, prices soared
The 2020 harvest has fallen by more than 60%. Overlapping the last harvest season did not leave any subsequent crops, the price of artemisia oil has risen sharply from last year's low, and the supply of high-concentration artemisinone is scarce. It is expected that the price of Indian wormwood oil will continue to rise during the year.
Eucalyptus Oil: weak demand, price bottoming
Although crude oil inventories at the origin are still low, the price of eucalyptus oil is at its lowest point in many years due to weak global demand.
Grapefruit oil: stable prices in 2020
The price of grapefruit oil reached its highest point in 2018 after years of difficulties. This has led many companies that are unwilling to pay high prices to redesign their formulas, which has led to a decline in demand, and prices have fallen throughout 2019. In 2020, the price of grapefruit oil is stable, with little upward and downward activity.
Indian lemongrass oil: prices rise first and then fall
During the lockdown period, harvesting could not be carried out, leading to accumulation of market demand and price hikes. In recent weeks, the price of Indian lemongrass oil has fallen due to low global demand.
Bulgarian lavender oil: the harvest is very poor, it needs to rely on subsequent crops to increase production
The 2020 lavender harvest activity has ended at the end of July, and the harvest is very poor. Many major producing areas were hit by the lack of rainfall, and the harvest was therefore very low. The subsequent crops left over from the 2018&2019 harvest season are expected to be used to increase the production of essential oils this year.
Argentine lemon oil: crop yields fall by 20%, prices are rising
Prices fell throughout 2019 due to the good harvest of origin crops that year and high inventories, so prices bottomed earlier this year. The 2020 harvest has just ended, and crop production has fallen by 20% compared to 2019, and prices are therefore rising.
Lime oil distilled in Mexico: demand exceeds supply, prices may rise
At the beginning of the year, due to poor weather conditions and high prices of fresh fruits, the price of Mexican distilled lime oil rose rapidly. The market has been very stable in recent months, but because demand is still higher than supply, prices are expected to continue to rise during the year.
Litsea cubeba oil/CITRAL (EU natural grade): expected to rise in the next few months
At the beginning of the outbreak, the market demand for natural-grade citral in Europe increased significantly, resulting in a very tight supply of origin. The harvest of Litsea cubeba this year is almost over, and the harvest is reasonable. However, due to the early distillation of oil farmers to supplement the supply when the price is high, the low citral content in its Litsea cubeba oil has led to an increase in the price of EU natural grade citral. . With the launch of new oil, the prices of Litsea cubeba oil and EU natural grade citral have both fallen recently, but are expected to rise in the coming months.
Orange oil/d-limonene: rapid price increase
The orange market remains strong; Brazil’s 2020/21 crop harvest is expected to fall by 25% year-on-year, causing buyers to stock up. Adding to the current high demand for dextro-limonene for cleaning products, the prices of orange oil and dextro-limonene are rising rapidly. However, it is still unclear how high the price increase will be during the year.
Peppermint oil: September prices or upward
Many factories in Europe are closed due to the summer holidays and the demand for peppermint oil has decreased, so the price of Indian peppermint oil has fallen. It is expected that the price of peppermint oil will rise as the European plant resumes production in September.
