Hubei Energy to Invest LNG Projects along Yangtze River
Listed company Hubei Energy Group announced to cooperate with Zhijiang City Government and invest 2.5 billion CNY to build the LNG distribution center at the riverbank in Zhijiang City region. The planned Phase I included two LNG receiving wharves, one LNG filling wharf and two matching tanks with 40,000 cbm each.
According to sources, the company plans to establish an LNG filling network for vessels in Chankiang River, which is also called the “Universal Promotion of LNG-Fueled Vessels in Chankiang River Project”. The company collaborated with Kunlun Energy on the 5 million cbm/day Huanggang LNG Plant, and it also invested the Chongqing Petroleum and Gas Exchange. With those preparations, the company plans to build a series of LNG distribution centers in cities of Hubei Province in a short term, including Yidu, Zhijiang, Jiangling, Gongan, Shishou, Honghu, Wuhan, Ezhou, Huanggang, Wuxue, etc. In the long term, the company plans to form an LNG filling network along Chankiang River from Chongqing to Shanghai.
Besides, the company paid great attention to the gas power generation. The company put the Donghu Plant’s two 185 MW units into operation in July 2017, and many new plans were also in progress, such as gas power cooperation projects with governments of Binzhou, Yingkou, Zhoushan, etc.
It is clear the company is planning an integrated layout of the whole industrial chain, from the upstream LNG receiving to the midstream pipeline operation and the downstream NGV and gas power applications. In the background of the natural gas promotion and the implementation of the 13th Five-Year Plan, Hubei Energy Group will set out in advance in the foreseeablle future development of natural gas industry.
