AkzoNobel invests $158 million to continue expansion

2020-09-27

AkzoNobel is investing €20 million to increase the production capacity of its powder coatings in Como, Italy, signalling the company's intention to strengthen its market position and increase its focus on green manufacturing.

The Como plant is already AkzoNobel's largest powder coatings production plant in Europe and will expand its automotive coatings production capacity on top of this. The new plant will provide strategic support to AkzoNobel's Arnsberg plant in Germany, which is also adding new production lines, to help ensure customer supply.

The additional capacity in Como will be installed in a refurbished building that was originally used for the manufacture of powder coatings, a sustainable use of the historic part of the site. In addition to introducing advanced equipment and technology to provide higher productivity and efficiency gains, Como's new facility will also reduce energy consumption by utilizing recycled energy.
