Ethanol Gasoline Appeared on the 2018 International Clean Energy Expo
Biofuel ethanol, as an important clean energy, was displayed on the 2018 International Clean Energy Expo which was held in Beijing from March 27 to March 29.
In the new century, Energy security and environmental protection issues have become a bottleneck which restricts the global sustainable development, and more and more countries speed up the pace of developing green renewable energies. With the advantages of renewability, friendly environment, proven technique, easy to use and promotion, the biofuel ethanol has become a perfect alternative of fossil fuels.
According to incomplete statistics, more than 60 countries and regions have promoted biofuel ethanol and ethanol gasoline for road vehicles, and they consume about 600 million mt of ethanol gasoline every year, accounting for nearly 60% of world’s annual gasoline use.
China’s biofuel ethanol industry started at the beginning of the 10th Five-year Plan. In 2001, the State Council agreed that the use of biofuel ethanol was promoted in pilot provinces, so as to ease oversupply of the aging corn, improve the air quality and ecological environment and optimize the energy structure.
China is the third largest bioethanol producer in the world, and the annual consumption volume of biofuel ethanol has hit almost 2,600kt up to now.
In September 2017, an announcement was published by the National Development and Reform Commission and National Energy Administration that planned to use bioethanol gasoline nationwide by 2020, which brought new development opportunities to the bioethanol industry.
Use of biofuel ethanol is currently piloted in 11 provinces, including Jilin, Liaoning and Heilongjiang provinces in Northeast China, Henan and Hebei provinces in North China, Anhui, Shandong and Jiangsu provinces in East China, Hubei province in Central China, and Guangxi and Guangdong provinces in Southwest China.
