Shandong Marine Group Succeeded in ISO LNG Deal
According to sources, Shandong Marine Group’s subsidiary Shandong Marine International Co., Ltd. successfully accomplished the first delivery of the ISO LNG tank container trades from CNPC’s Dalian Terminal to Weihai Port. The trade was a small-scaled trial experiment of the company, and the success was expected to be the initiation of the new supplementary trade operation mode for the remote region at the end of the Shandong peninsula.
Weihai City and Yantai City located at the end of the peninsula, and they suffered the long-distance delivery of LNG and insufficient piped gas supply accordingly. Actually, because the supply needed to be delivered from Qingdao Terminal, Tianjin Terminal or Kunlun Energy’s Taian plants, the local LNG price was usually extremely high and unstable, and the development of the coal-to-gas switch and industrial application was severely dragged down.
Shandong Marine Group, a famous domestic gas shipping company of China, cooperated with CNPC Dalian Terminal, which was operated by CNPC’s listed energy company Kunlun Energy, and Shanghai Eblock Chains Co., Ltd, which was the logistics solution provider of the trade, and completed the first experience of the multimodal transportation via land and ocean. Moreover, it is expected that this new trade mode will be far widely used in the upcoming winter heating season against the possible supply deficit of industrial fuel and NGV-used LNG under the regulation of backing residential gas supply.
