Berger to Set Up Rs. 200-crore Paint Plant at Sandila in Uttar Pradesh

Chemical Weekly 2018-05-09

A Rs. 200-crore greenfield project of Berger Paints India Ltd. (BPIL) at Sandila Industrial Area in Uttar Pradesh is expected to go on stream by March 2020.

Indicating this in a regulatory filing with the stock exchanges, the company said that its board of directors had approved installation of an integrated plant with water- and solvent-based products. BPIL Managing Director Mr. Abhijit Roy said the product-mix of the plant would be predominantly decoratives. However, it would also have some industrial paints.

Mr. Roy said that the outlook for the paint industry was good thanks to rising demand in the residential segment due to affordable housing units coming up in many states and the government’s thrust on the infrastructure projects.

BPIL is present in the domestic and industrial paint, powder and protective paint category. This is the company’s second greenfield project of Berger since its plant in Assam two years ago. The company has 12 manufacturing units with a monthly capacity of 60,000-tonnes.
